Our Vision 2024-2026
Vision Gospel Reading - Matthew 7:24-25
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise person who built their house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
VISION Statement
St Matthew’s School, Marton is an equitable learning environment where our warrior learners can cultivate a ‘rock solid’ foundation of Faith, Excellence and Resilience; to navigate through their changing lives, so they can transform the world.
Our Gospel Values
Our Gospel values are all underpinned by the gospel of St Matthew. Each is linked to a Saint who were living examples of our values. They transformed the world through their Christ-centred lives.

Catherine McAuley - HOSPITALITY
Matthew 5:46-48
46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
St Matthew the Apostle - RESPECT
Matthew 15:10-11
10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”
Matthew 7:12
12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
St Mother Mary - EXCELLENCE
Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
St Francis Xavier - SERVICE
Matthew 20:26-28
26 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. 28 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
St Mother Teresa - SOCIAL JUSTICE
Matthew 25:40
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:35-36
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Our community
Our tamariki and staff excel within a Christ-centred, safe learning environment that cultivates the warrior learner within all of us.
Our hope is for ALL who enter our school, to experience Christ's love through words and actions-a daily encounter with Christ.
We have a strong learning culture where we strive to do our best using and continuing to develop our God-given gifts and talents. This is beautifully supported by our parents, whaanau, friends, our Parish Priest,
St Francis Xavier Parishioners and the wonderful Marton community.
We are truly blessed!
